World of Smiles Telethon
BC Children's Hospital Foundation and Shaw Cablesystems G.P. join together on Sunday, March 16 for a very special fundraising event benefiting BC Children's Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute. The 10th anniversary "A World of Smiles" Telethon airs live from 5 to 11 p.m. on Shaw Multicultural Channel, Cable 109. This year's telethon will be simulcast on Shaw TV, Cable 4, in the communities served by Shaw's Vancouver and Nanaimo systems. Atish Ram - producer of the television series Zindagi - will join Shaw Multicultural Channel host Sukhi Ghuman for the six-hour broadcast, with special guest appearances by local media personalities Nira Arora and Renu Bakshi, and Montreal comedian Sugar Sammy. "A World of Smiles" Telethon offers exclusive entertainment from world-class stage shows including the talent search Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge, recent concerts appearances from Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, and high-energy performances from local artists including A-Slam, Shalini Kumar, Baljit Kainth & Bollywood Playback Singer Reecha Tripaathi. Throughout the telethon, the inspiring stories of very special children will reveal how the work of BC Children's Hospital has touched the lives of BC families. The telethon is presented in English with some Hindi and Punjabi musical features.
Baljit Kainth is an active participant in the Vancouver Kingsway Lions Club. For many years, the Vancouver Kingsway Lions Club has helped raise money through fundraisers and other activites for various charity organizations such as Operation Eyesight. ...continued...
